Style icon

Marianne Faithfull

Girl friend to mick Jagger, singer, song writer and actress, Marianne Faithfull was a popular and famous face of the 1960s. Her glamoursous and simple sexy style was one that young girls aspired to. The outfits of miss faithfull made the fashion trend that we remember the 1960s for.

The Fur coat! The iconic fur coat of the 1960s that would be paired with a little black dress a cigarette or just on its own...without anything underneath!

Inspiration

Tim Walker

Tim Walker is my favorite photographer. His artistic and creative ability to make a fantasy or fairy tale come to life makes him stand out from other artists and photographers and, in my opinion makes him truly unique. I do not consider Tim Walker to be a photographer but an artist. It is his skill of creating something new that draws me to his work. The world of Tim Walker is truly fascinating and his photos allow us a sneak peak into his world of magic.

Tim Walker is a British Fashion Photographer and has worker for publications such as Vogue creating magical and romantic motif characters in his style. Over the years Tim Walker has gained prestige and appreciation for his magnificent work, and has been named 'The Story Teller' a title quite fitting to the genius artist.

Walker photographs in many beautiful British houses, castles and landmarks. Walker collaborates with Angel the Costumiers to create the illusion of a magical character. This helps in order to invent the story's and concepts behind the photoshoot. Walker mainly works on a large scale and has created many large scale drawings and models such as the Mullberry campaigns.

Tim Walker is also extremely famous for his portraits and photographing the iconic designers, actors, artists and musicians of our time. He has photographed the legendary Alexander McQueen, Vivienne westwood and Helena Bonham Carter.

I find the collaboration of colours and shapes of the costumes and settings beautiful! There is something very appealing about every single one of Walker's photographs. Additionally, Walker focuses on many traditional British settings and events such as hunting, world war two and royalty.

Proenza Shoeler

Proenza Schouler

I have recently discovered the marvellous designs of Proenza Schouler. My personal favourite show is the spring summer 2013. Why? Because of the colours, the tailored cut of the dresses and the smart use of the vintage photographed printed fabric. The designers created a collection of clothing that was simple in shape, however spectacular with layers and clashes of block colours onto vintage photography. The designers composed items of clothing that were combined an elegant cut with the edgy patterns and colours.

New Obsession - Ashley Williams

My new fashion obsession...

Ashley Williams

The first time I heard about Ashley Williams was in ELLE magazine. Pixie Geldof wore her Elvis print dress. Being an Elvis fan I immediately researched the designer and looked on the Vogue website to view her recent work and fashion shows. Personally I adore Williams' use of colour combinations to create cute and quirky kitsch style prints and patterns.
In her AW13 Fashion East show there was a really 60s vibe, with see-through dresses showing cute pink underwear there was a really sexual appeal in the clothing, whilst having a really girly feel to the items.

This is my favourite piece in her entire AW show. It looks like she through on her favourite magazine article and reminds me of the Dior Newspaper dress Carrie Bradshaw wore in Sex and the City.

Backstage photos

After visiting the UCAS fair of 2013 at London Olympia I discovered that Williams attended the university of Westminster! I was already considering applying to Westminster University, however now I'm hooked! It's definitely one of my UCAS choices.

Gotta love Tim Walker!

My Illustration of Helena Bonham Carter Photographed by Tim Walker.

Meadham Kirchhoff

Last night I went to see the magical the awesome Meadham Kirchhoff at the V&A. As part of thee museum's fashion in motion programme I saw the seven pm show. The atmosphere was wonderful with artists, students from all creative areas of all different styles, all with the same admiration and curiosity for the duo designers.

The outfits were a mixture of pieces from all their shows. It was a beautiful and breathtaking combination. Furthermore the combination of the moving set designed by Philip Wiegard and whimsical music directed by Jeffrey Hinton really worked well with the clothes, giving the clothes a story.

It was a magical night! I felt like I was on top of the world! Thank you to the V&A for treasuring the artists and their works that are so important to our culture. Thank you for giving me the oppurtunity to see a fashion show of two designers I have admired since I their ss 2011 show!
